[Music] We've filmed the South Somerset Ferreters
before. Well, they're back - and this time they reckon they've got the ultimate warren.
It's a hill not far from the South Devon coast and it's a honeycomb of buries. The South Somerset Ferreters are a group of
families who get together on a Saturday not to go shopping, not to go to a theme park.
They go ferreting. Between them, they have everything that ferreters
need, including two lurchers, a little Lakeland/whippet cross and their not-so-secret weapon, Louis,
a remarkably sprightly 10-year-old Jack Russell.
Also on hand to help is the Fieldsports Channel
cocker spaniel Muffin and her year-old daughter Mina. Yes, I don't think it really gets any better
than where we are today, anywhere in the country really. First job is to put the nets out - both long
nets and purse nets We know what we are up against today, because
we did it last year. Yes like I said we have got the whole perimeter again.
Blocked off
the long nets and we have still got a lot of purse nets to set. Roughly about 200 nets.
Yes it takes time, but if you don't put the time in, you don't get the rewards. It's not just a case of bunging a net over
a hole and banging it in. So you have got different sized nets here? Yes, I have got four footers, five footers
and six footers, all for different holes.
Does it depend on the size of the hole. Yes. Then there are the elastic bands Every purse net we use, we put an elastic
band around. So when we pick them up if we have any elastic bands left we know we are
missing a net from somewhere.
It takes a couple of hours to put out this
many nets. About 600 yards of long net we have got to
set up around as well, five dogs, about 15 ferrets which we put down all in one go. So
hopefully fingers crossed, not a lot will get away. Next up the stars of the show.
The ferrets.
We take time off for a bite to eat. Then - nets, dogs, children - everyone gets in position.
There's even time to disentangle Mina from a long net. The first rabbits don't take long to bolt.
Men, women and children are stationed round the long nets, ready to dive on anything that
wriggles. After a quarter of an hour of no activity,
we reckon we have had the best of this bury.
Now we have to retrieve the ferrets. When ferrets lie up and have to be dug out,
they uncannily choose the thickest part of the brambles. You need to sweep the brambles
with Ferret Finders. Just goes to show that without these finders
you would lose ferrets.
He went right the way across the other side. So good we have
got them all back now. Plus a rabbit for a bonus. Years of experience tells them that this last
ferret is deep underground.
The fastest way to cut through the bramble roots is to send
in Louis - still keen as a puppy. Once Louis has done his work, Jaf calls for another piece
of kit. It's a ferreting endoscope. At last we find the final ferret.
It was nowhere
near the brambles but in the next field, curled up with a rabbit. The next step is the main event. We're ferreting
the open hillside. Jaf is relieved to find the bury here is not connected to the holes
under the brambles next to it.
We get more rabbit action from this side of
the hill - and we're in a perfect place to watch it. There is even an opportunity to train a young
dog to stay away from ferrets. The last ferret of the day has chosen the
only clump of gorse to lie up beneath. It's another digging exercise, with Louis on hand
to offer help.

is Tina Larsen. I'm from Bollungen, Sweden. And this is my rabbit, Flora. We're at Harrogate's
Event Center.
Is that the name of it? Me and Flora is doing
rabbit show jumping. She really enjoys herself
when she's jumping. I look at her, and I see
how fun she has. I don't think she care
about the trophy.
But I think she be interested
in beating Cherie. MAGDALENA: This is Cherie. She's two and a half
years old, and she really loves jumping. ANNOUNCER: And she's off.
Oh, she's quick. MAGDALENA: See's a very
happy rabbit. She's very fun. She lives in my house.
When I'm open my fridge, she's
coming, oh, do you have something for me? She loves carrots and hay and
ordinary rabbit food. I don't know if she
wants to win. I think she think it's fun
to jump, and that's why she doing it. MAX'S TRAINER: Max's full
name is Maximilian.
Max has been training
for a month. Very hyper, very enthusiastic. Not too sure what he's
doing all the time. He still really, really
tries hard.
Max is the youngest bunny in the
competition at the moment, at six months old. And everyone loves him 'cause
his little ears go up and down as he jumps. ANNOUNCER: Just under 10 rabbits
with us today who will tackle the 10-jump course. Stalwarts ready? Three, two, one, go.
Whoo! Let's cheer her on. She's halfway through
[INAUDIBLE] make it to the end. TINA LARSEN: The prize in
the competition this weekend is a trophy. I don't think we're going to
get it, but who knows? MAGDALENA: I never train
her, because I'm compete so often in Sweden.
So she doesn't need
to train at home. She trains at competitions. ANNOUNCER: And she's off. Oh, she's quick.
[INAUDIBLE]. Oh, she's on a roll, come on. Cheer her on to win. And she did it.
Well done, Cherie. MAGDALENA: She got the trophy. Today she was the winner, but
you never know tomorrow..
You know what I love, I love racing games.
The feeling you get when you speed down a track at top speed, putting the pedal to the
metal, trading paint with other cars as you drift through a corner. There is really nothing
like it. And because of having these emotions was I not satisfied with Ford Racing for the
Playstation. With games like Gran Turismo and Need for Speed, games that offer tons
of different cars and brands to race, Ford Racing hopes that the only cars you want to
race are made by Ford.
This can feel, because it really is, limited in comparison to other
racing games. But Ford is a solid company with multiple
options to suit your racing needs. Most of the cars need to be unlocked through the career
mode, cars like the Mustang which everyone would want to race. No, patience is a virtue
and you have to learn to master the Ford Fiesta and Escort first, before you are handed the
keys to the more powerful cars.
But the limited car selection would really
not be that big of a deal, I mean how upset can you be that there are no Alpha Romeros
in a game called Ford Racing, but that's if the games racing and career mode were fantastic.
And disappointingly, both of those feel very limited. The career mode starts you off with
a weak car, but offers ways to unlock more and even tune and upgrade your cars, making
them more powerful and perform better. But it feels like disjointed races and just doesnt
really flow well together and the same with the racing itself. Everything just feels very
slippery, your cars don't really feel like they have any weight.
And the speed of the
races, let me tell you how intense it gets when you are flying down the straight-away
topping out at, oh what only 55 mph. I drive faster than that in my Hyundai on my way to
work. I know you can do better than that. Ford Racing is a great idea for a game, racing
with some great American cars against the competition.
But the game is held back by
a thin career mode and controls that need some time under-the-hood. I crave intense
speed, and Ford Racing only delivers a push buggy..

It's the 2018 Bike vs. Bus vs. Car
race. This morning we're gonna have a bus rider, two bike riders and a car driver
race from this bus shelter to City Hall in downtown Greenville.
I'm the car guy
and I brought a BMW i8 - a full electric hybrid car and I'm hoping it's really
gonna get me to the finish line first. I. Know that bicycling is a large part of
the Greenville community so we're honored to be a part of this and get our
bikes out and see how we do. We are raising awareness about alternate forms of
transportation in Greenville because everyone takes a car but a lot of people
don't know it's equally fast to just take the bus somewhere or you could ride
your bike, it's super accessible.
From the starting point on East North Street the
race course is two miles to get to City Hall and the finish line. I'm gonna win.
If I lose to the bicycle it's gonna be tough for me back at work, right? I
definitely think I stand a chance. I think bikes are pretty adaptable and
they can kind of squeeze anywhere they need to, but I feel like the bus is a
solid choice. Again, it has a path to where I need to go and I feel pretty
good about it.
I'm gonna go with the car. Going with the BMW. Diesel-powered engine versus a
bicyclist? Uh... I don't know...You take a guess.
Throughout the race course, all of the
participants have to follow the rules of the road just like any normal day, so the
car driver has to obey speed limits, stop at stop signs, red lights. The bike riders
have to also stop at stop signs and red lights, and the bus rider is on a live
bus so that bus will have to stop and pick up any other Greenlink passengers
along the route. I think the bike is definitely gonna be my strongest
competition because they can kind of weave wherever they need to go. They're
not gonna have the traffic or the stoplights really backing them up too
much so I think that they'll be strong competition.
I've never been in a race
where they had red lights. Oh, look at that! Wow, the bikes are passing me! The bikes passed. I gotta tell you the bikes are pretty tough. The bikes won last year
- they don't have quite the same sort of traffic that I have to deal with, so...And
they can also park much closer to the finish line so I'm really worried about
the bikes.
You tend to notice a lot more on a bicycle rather than being in your car and you see a lot more so maybe just the pure enjoyment and physical fitness
would be probably my biggest reasons for riding a bicycle. Yeah, I think it could be an advantage to
be taking the bus because the route is kind of fixed so it's a little more
consistent, I think, with traffic, who knows, there could be stuff in the way of the bike so it could kind of go any way for the car or the bike, I think, but the bus,
I feel, is a solid choice. OK, yeah, there was this truck parked in the bike lane and we had to pause for a second and go - but we just went right past it so I feel like
the bikers gonna get caught up on that and I feel like they had the edge to begin with so that might kind of like level the playing field a little bit. There are a
few different ways to get downtown and just like any other commuter I'm working
on the traffic, right? It all depends on the lights, the traffic, how busy the
streets are.
We looked at various routes, tried to find one that's safe and has
the least amount of traffic and hopefully the green lights will be in our
favor. All right, so we're making a stop to pick up some other riders so that's kind of putting us back a little bit but I feel like we can catch back up. Honestly, I don't think I. Could go any better or any faster.
I
don't think there's another route that would have been better. Yeah. I think
we're doing as well as we can do and we'll just have to see if it's good
enough. Once they get parked, or the bus parks
and the car parks in the Poinsett parking garage, all participants must
still walk to City Hall to cross the finish line.
And the bike riders must
lock their bikes and walk to the finish line. Oh, no! My 'electric strategy' is defeated!
Oh, man! Well, maybe it is, I don't know...Is there another hybrid? Reserved! Oh, no! I think it's a great thing. Downtown
Greenville's awesome. Fourth fastest-growing city in America, and this initiative to
highlight alternative modes of transportation, the Earth Day, environment, all of
that stuff - BMW is just proud to be partnered with this initiative.
I'm
really happy and I'm really satisfied with it. It was a great race. It was
really close and I'm just happy to win and to even be a part of something like
this. This is really cool..
